Iranian cleric slams global “tsunami of hatred”

Senior Iranian cleric has warned of “tsunami of hatred” across the globe in a letter to the UN Secretary General praising the stance taken by the international body against the plague followed by the new coronavirus outbreak.

Ayatollah Reza Ramezani, secretary general of Ahlul Bayt (AS) World Forum has sent a letter to Antonio Guterres secretary general of the United Nations to laud the responsible stance taken towards the outbreak of “tsunami of hatred” following COVID-19 across the globe expressing hope that the issue is maintained by world people, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
Iranian scholar, in part of his letter to the UN Secretary General, referred to the security threats against world peace, economic threats jeopardizing social structures expanding poverty and also threats against world people’s health caused by the new coronavirus particularly those in the developing or underdeveloped countries.
 
The cleric called on the UN secretary general to deal with the new coronavirus outbreak away from political aspects and then take global action to spread the culture of friendship, peace and justice stressing,” Tired of oppressive pressures, man is parching for justice, peace and coexistence.”
 
Ayatollah Ramezani urged the international bodies to maintain utmost attention to fulfill their duties in fighting the virus, world governments pursue ways to contain the outbreak and cure the disease and also the media to inform the public.
 
In another part of his message the cleric highlighted necessity of rejecting hatred as public mission as the plague is rooted in greedy colonial governments with the mainstream media fanning the flames of this issue.
 
“To fuel the fire of hatred between Shia and Sunni, Muslim and non-Muslim or white and black is the game played by those promoting their weaponry industries and warmongering policies through these flames” he said.
 
Top Iranian scholar highlighted the theological teachings among the prime cures for expansion of xenophobia and noted,” Undoubtedly Islam and other holy religions promote constructive cooperation among communities as the school of Ahlul Bayt (AS), providing the humane role model for man, is the answer for serious shortcomings in human societies.”
 
Ayatollah Ramezani expressed hope that the authorities at the United Nations and other international bodies, particularly the World Health Organization (WHO) and United Nations Commission on Human Rights (OHCHR) will take steps to respect the inalienable rights of man and ending the oppressive measures by a number of arrogant governments.
 
The cleric concluded his letter urging the authorities in world countries to settle the issues, confront the injustice and also promote peace and coexistence.
