Iran's president Rouhani:

Cooperation, friendship best way to ensure security in region

Iran's President Hassan Rouhani says the best way to ensure security and stability in the region is to promote friendship and cooperation among all countries in the region.
“I emphasize that to ensure security and stability in the region, there is no way but [to promote] cooperation and friendship among the countries of the region,” Rouhani said in a phone conversation with Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al Sabah on Monday.

He added that Iran is still ready to promote collective cooperation aimed at ensuring security and stability in the region and across the world, and fighting against the deadly novel coronavirus under the current sensitive situation.

"We expect the friendly country of Kuwait to adopt a stance on regional issues and also on the US’ wrong behavior," the Iranian president said.

He expressed hope that the ongoing difficult situation in the world would teach a lesson to some countries so that they would "rectify their mistakes" and take humanitarian relations as the basis of their actions.

Rouhani once again stressed the importance of boosting cooperation among regional countries in the battle against coronavirus and expressed the Islamic Republic's readiness to share its "good experience" in this regard with friendly countries such as Kuwait.

The Emir of Kuwait, for his part, lauded Iran's logical behavior and stances in the face of important regional and international issues.

He also welcomed Iran's proposal to share its experience with Kuwait in the field of fighting against coronavirus, and emphasized the need for further deepening of the two countries’ relations in all areas.

Iran has been doing its utmost to contain COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the new coronavirus, despite the hardships caused by Washington’s cruel sanctions.

Tehran’s battle against the virus has repeatedly drawn the praise of the World Health Organization (WHO), which has expressed certitude that the Islamic Republic has enough capabilities to stem the outbreak.

In a written statement published on Friday, Iran's Health Minister Saeed Namaki said the Islamic Republic was on the brink of containing the COVID-19 outbreak in most of the country’s provinces.

Namaki said Iran has been able to curb the outbreak using its own “successful model” despite lacking the financial and material support enjoyed by other countries.
