Shia cleric hails Iran’s moderate Sunni community
Hujjat-ul-Islam Abul Hassan Navvab, head of the University of Religions and Denominations in a meeting with ambassadors of proximity referred to history of coexistence of different Islamic denominations in Iran hailing Iran’s Sunni community for their moderate path, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
Top Shia cleric said,” Iran’s Sunni community has never followed extremism and has never taken any measure against the Shia community even as rulers of the country.”
 
He added,” Books and manuscripts left from Iranian Sunni scholars are all away from extremist views.”
 
The scholar called for grand educational center for the Sunni scholars to study in their country Iran and also admitting Sunni students from other countries so that they substitute Iranian Sunni academies for some countries which follow extremist ideologies.”
 
Hujjat-ul-Islam Navvab called Iran as cradle of knowledge, culture, mysticism, literature and moderation.
 
Head of the University of Religions and Islamic Denominations announced that the academy is scheduled to admit Sunni students in virtual courses to ease education for those distanced from the holy city of Qom where the university is located.
 
Shia cleric hailed the Sunni scholars for being much ahead of their fellows from other countries and said the friendly relations between the Shia and Sunni Muslims in Iran should be set as role model for Muslims in all other Muslim states.
 
He vowed that proximity activities will be maintained in the University of Religions and Islamic Denominations expressing hope that the holy city of Qom turns to hub of Islamic proximity.
