Mohsen Esmaeeli, member of Iran’s Expediency Discernment Council, stressed necessity of settling disagreements between Muslims and expanding fraternal ties between Islamic denominations, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

He referred to recommendations by late Imam Khomeini (RA) calling his followers to maintain the interests of all Muslims and struggle to achieve unity.

Iranian university professor also quoted the late founder of Islamic Revolution urging Muslims to boost their solidarity in a bid to avoid dominance of enemies.

Mohsen Emsaeeli said,” That is the reason why Imam Khomeini reiterated that Shia Hajj pilgrims join Sunni prayers and make pioneers in uniting the Muslim community.”

Pilgrims from across the globe are heading to the holy cities of Mecca and Medina for Hajj 2018 which will be performed on Sunday August 19-24, the tentative date as the actual date is contingent on the sighting of the moon of Dhul Hijjah.

According to the Islamic Calendar, Muslim Pilgrimage begins on the 8th day of Dhul-Hijjah and ends on the thirteenth day of the same Islamic month. There are many rituals in the performance of Hajj and these may be completed over the course of the 5 days. Every year, millions Muslims participate in this holy pilgrimage to the city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
