Nigeria to host Islam, Christianity interfaith dialogue
Iran’s cultural section in Nigeria and Abuja central cathedral will be holding interfaith dialogue between Islam and Christianity in August in line with spreading peace between holy religions and denunciation of violence, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

Nigerian capital of Abuja is scheduled to host global interfaith conference on “Role of Religious Solidarity in Building Peace and Preventing Violence” in August following a meeting between authorities at central cathedral of Abuja and Azimi Nasrabad, Iran’s cultural attaché in the African country.

Iranian representative in this meeting referred to importance of peace and prevention of violence in Abrahamic religions and expressed regret over the sectarian clashes in Nigeria leaving a number of men and women dead.

He called Iran as a flag bearer of building unity between different religions sparing no effort towards solidarity by boosting interaction with religious figures from across the globe and also holding several conferences.

Nigeria is a frequent location for deadly ethnical and sectarian clashes with constant emergency situations and numerous victims.  While a majority of these clashes are blamed on tribal disagreements recent cases of violence between Muslims and Christians have pushed the religious leaders in this country to urge their followers to avoid violence and hostile intrigues.
