Iran, Syria call for religious, cultural cooperation

Top clerics from Iran and Syria have met in the capital Damascus to stress necessity of cultural and religious cooperation between two Muslim countries.

Iran’s Ayatollah Mohsen Araki, Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought has met with top Syrian mufti, Sheikh Badr el-Din Hassoun, discussing world forum’s plans for expansion of meetings between clerics from both countries, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
Iranian and Syrian religious figures, in this meeting stressed expansion of cultural and religious cooperations, especially on Islamic proximity, meeting of religious elites and charity aids for war-stricken people in Syria.
 
Ayatollah Araki also met with Syria’s minister of endowments proposing to boost proximity, academic and charity services for those hit by counter-terrorism campaign in Syria.
 
Ayatollah Araki and the companying delegate visited the holy shrine of Hazrat Zeynab (AS) and Hazrat Roqayeh (AS), sister and little daughter of Imam Hussein (AS), third Shia Imam and grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
 
Ayatollah Mohsen Araki is a member of Iran’s Assembly of Experts. He was appointed as the Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought in a command by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution to set ‘diplomacy of unity’ as the major strategy of the Islamic unity center in Iran.
