Iranian deputy FM receives Syrian counterpart in Tehran

Faisal Mekdad, Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister, who is visiting Tehran, met with his Iranian counterpart for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Jeberi Ansari.

During the meeting held in the framework of the joint political commission of Iran and Syria, the two sides discussed bilateral ties, the latest developments in Syria, war on terror, humanitarian situation and aids, the progression of descalating zones of tension, and the agenda of the upcoming seventh edition of Astana talks.

 The Syrian side also informed the Iranian diplomatic body of the formal views of Syrian government on the peace-process of political resolution underway in special areas.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Syrian diplomat met with Iranian Leader’s Adviser Ali Akbar Velayati, saying “my visit to Iran reflects the nature of the two countries’ relations in the wake of the recent victories in the region.”
