Iraqi religious, academic board has met with top Iranian official to discuss launch branch of the University of Islamic Denominations in Iraq.

Grand Ayatollah Mohsen Araki, secretary general of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought has admitted a visiting board of religious and academic figures from Iraq proposing the board of trustee to include representatives of different Islamic denominations and also Christian elites, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
Iraqi board in this meeting hosted by Iran’s Ayatollah Araki, included representatives of Iraq’s Ministry of Higher Education, Shia and Sunni Diwan of Waqf (bureau of endowments), Ahlul Bayt (AS) University, deputy of Ministry of Higher Education and also a group of Shia and Sunni elites discussed ways to launch a branch of the University of Islamic Denominations.
 
Both sides in this meeting exchanged views on educations cooperation between Tehran and Baghdad proposing that the board of trustees for Iraqi branch of the University of Islamic Denominations includes Shia, Sunni, Izadi and also Christian members.
 
Ayatollah Araki praised the struggles of Iraqi board for the aim and demanded for a quick compilation of the necessities for launching the University of Islamic Denominations.
 
He stressed necessity of expanding Islamic proximity expressing hope for the immediate launch of preliminaries for the University of Islamic Denominations.
 
“Despite the current issues in the world of Islam including extremism, war and Takfir (excommunication), I believe that Islamic nation is in the best situation to embrace proximity” said the cleric and added, ”Takfir and ISIL are not the issues confined to Syria and Iraq, rather they are problems for the whole world of Islam.”
 
The launch of this academic center will be the second branch of the University of Islamic Denominations created based on a common objective in the world of Islam.
