Kashmir Muslims stress Shia Sunni unity during Muharram

Shia and Sunni communities in Kashmir have gathered in a meeting to stress necessity of maintaining solidarity during the mourning month of Muharram.

On the eve of the month of Muharram and martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS), third Shia Imam and grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) Shia and Sunni Muslims in Kashmir held a meeting to warn against any hostile move targeting the solidarity of main Islamic denominations, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
Participants in this meeting highlighted active role of coordination committees composing both denominations so that no one can find the opportunity to disturb the peace and fraternity among Shia and Sunni communities.
 
Agha Seyyed Hassan al-Mousavi, head of the Shia Sharia Association in this meeting expressed concerns over the recent killings in Kashmir criticizing Indian government as the responsible side for that.
 
He hailed the high status of Imam Hussein (AS) saying that the Battle of Karbala proves how modesty is the final winner.
 
Shia and Sunni participants in this meeting discussed the great sacrifice made by Imam Hussein (AS) calling the third Shia Imam as a symbol of humanity and one who contributed his life to heighten the name and spirituality of Islam.
 
Imam Hussein (AS) was the third Shia Imam and grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) martyred with his companions in the Battle of Karbala back in 680 AD.
