“With regard to regional issues, particularly the campaign against extremism and terrorist movements in the region, the two sides can devise and implement good plans given their experience, and the outcome of such cooperation will definitely be positive for stability in this region,” the Leader’s advisor on international affairs, Ali Akbar Velayati, said in a meeting with India’s Minister of State for External Affairs Mubashir Javed Akbar in Tehran on Sunday.

Velayati, who is also the president of the Center for Strategic Research of Iran's Expediency Council, added that Tehran and New Delhi have great potential to improve relations in different sectors including in economy, culture, transit and transportation.

The senior Iranian official stressed the importance of strengthening multilateral cooperation among Iran, India and Afghanistan in various fields.

The Indian official, for his part, said terrorism and Takfiri extremism are dangerous not only for the region but the entire world, and urged a serious campaign against them.
