Wahhabism, biggest threat against Islam, humanity

Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi, renowned Shia jurisprudent, attended the ceremony held for the new educational year saying Wahhabi and Takfiri groups have defamed Islam demanding for excommunication of the criminal groups from Islam, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

He said,” At present, Wahhabi and Takfiri (excommunication) groups have tarnished the image of Islam in the world by the destruction and crimes they commit across the globe; therefore, we should introduce them to Muslims and announce their exclusion from Islam.”

The cleric stressed importance of introducing Wahhabism to the people so that the younger generation is not trapped by the deviate ideology of Wahhabism and Daesh and said,” Following the enlightenment of the Shia clerics, Sunni scholars have also launched activities to introduce the deviate movement and the latest measure was the final statement of Chechnya conference against Wahhabism excommunicating the ideology from Sunni Islam, a move which has concerned Saudi Arabia and Wahhabi clerics.”

” We intend to refer to major religious references and prove that Wahhabism is not an Islamic denomination” said the cleric and added,” We have to show the world people that Islam is not a religion of violence same way that Pope has recently announced that Daesh has no relation with Islam and Muslims.”

Top jurisprudent expressed hope for annihilation of the deviate movement of Wahhabism and consequently resolution of issues on the way of Hajj pilgrimage.
