Prominent professor at Al Azhar University slammed Salafi groups for spreading atheism among the youths calling them as the key element behind tarnishing the image of Islam in the world.

Sheikh Ahmad Karima, renowned professor at Al Azhar University, in a phone interview with Egypt’s Al Asema channel called Salafi groups as root cause of expanding atheism among the youths and tarnishing Islam, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
Al Azhar professors have reportedly been denouncing Salafism and Wahhabi ideology, foundation for Saudi Arabia political strategy.
 
Ahmad Karima has criticized the deviate group for its key role in distracting the younger generation and tarnishing Islam.
 
He referred to Mohammad bin Abd Wahhab as the figure whose religion is followed by Wahhabis rather than Islam brought by Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
