'KSA spends Islam’s great wealth on slaying Muslims'

Chairman of Iran’s Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani took a swipe at Saudi Arabia’s authorities for their irrational policies and spending funds on killing Muslims in Yemen.

It’s a pity that Saudi Arabia, which boasts of hosting Kaaba, is spending Islam’s great wealth on killing Muslims, Rafsanjani said at a meeting with Iraq’s Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jabouri in Tehran on Sunday, slamming the new Saudi rulers for their immature and irrational policies.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and a number of its Arab allies have been launching deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in Yemen in an attempt to restore power to the fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

According to media reports, more than 8,000 Yemenis, most of them civilians, have been killed in the Saudi-led aggression so far.

Elsewhere in the meeting, Ayatollah Rafsanjani decried Saudi Arabia’s overt and covert ties with the Israeli regime depite knowing that the “usurping Zionists” have been displacing Palestinian Muslims from their homes and lands.

The Iranian official further cautioned against the dire consequences of the spread of Daesh (ISIL) terrorist activities, saying the terrorist group could disturb security in any country if its ideology is not eradicated.

For the sake of Islam and humanity, Iran is prepared for cooperation with Iraq and every other country in countering the Takfiri group, he added.

The Iraqi speaker, for his part, said Iraq seeks a counter-terrorism strategy in cooperation with all major countries, particularly with Iran that has precious experience in the fight on terrorism.

According to Tasnim, Jabouri arrived in Tehran on Saturday morning for talks with senior Iranian officials on the latest developments in his country.

Iran, a close ally of Iraq, has been supporting the Arab nation in the fight against Daesh since the terrorist group invaded Iraq in summer 2014.
