Esmail Kowsari pointed to the diplomatic immunity all diplomats enjoy worldwide and said the Zionist-backed Lebanese groups who kidnapped Iranian diplomats completely ignored the fact.

He said that unfortunately there is no precise information about the fate of Iranian diplomats 34 years after their abduction.

The former parliamentarian said Iran holds the Zionist regime as responsible for the abduction.

He said the Zionists had to either hand the bodies of the abducted diplomats to Iran or release them.

Kowsari further urged human rights organizations to take the necessary measures to get Iranian diplomats released from the Zionists.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry too on the 34th anniversary of abduction of four Iranian diplomats in Lebanon on Sunday appealed to the United Nations to oblige the Israeli regime to release them.

It urged on the UN secretary general, the International Committee of the Red Cross and other human rights organizations to discharge their obligation in this respect and force the Israeli regime to release them.

Three Iranian diplomats as well as a reporter of the Islamic Republic of Iran News Agency were abducted in Lebanon on 4 July 1982. They were stopped at a checkpoint in northern Lebanon by Lebanese Phalange forces.

None of them have been seen since.

The missing individuals are Ahmad Motevaselian, Mohsen Mousavi, Taghi Rastegar Moghadam and IRNA photojournalist, Kazem Akhavan.
