Iran’s Armenian archbishop hosts Muslims for Ramadan meal

Armenian Caliphate Council in Iran invited Muslim officials to break their fast with fellow Christian citizens in a bid to boost ties during an interfaith meal.

Sebouh Sarkissian, arch bishop of Armenians in Iran, congratulated world Muslims on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan calling the celebration a principle in Christianity, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He said,” What we do here is not merely a duty but our belief and a religious principle and our enthusiasm for the Muslim community.”
 
Representative of Armenians in Iran’s Parliament hailed cooperation and solidarity of Muslims and Christians since the beginning days of Islam referring to the physician who visited Imam Ali (AS), first Shia Imam, when wounded before his martyrdom as the utmost trust of a Muslim leader to the Christian community.
 
Top officials from Iran’s Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs were among the guests to the ceremony were archbishop Sebouh Sarkissian praised veterans of Iran’s Islamic Revolution and the imposed war.
 
Top cleric also extended gratitude for the support by the Supreme Leader, Iranian government and Parliament.
 
Ramadan is the ninth month in Muslim lunar calendar when Muslims abstain from eating and drinking from sunup to sundown. The occasion is marked with prayers, Qur’an recitation, charity events and interfaith meals between Muslims and followers of other religions.
