Europe pressing UN for removal of KSA from rights blacklist
Mohsen Saleh, head of Beirut Al Ma’aref University, denounced the UN for removing Saudi Arabia from children’s human rights blacklist saying that pressure of the European countries was influential on the international organization’s decision, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

He said the UN could not stand only as a witness to the destruction of Yemen and hunger of the civilians with its affiliate members did not take a neutral stance on the issue noting,” More than a year into the inhumane invasions on Yemen and use of forbidden weapons of mass destruction, UN issued a resolution to alleviate the sufferings of the Yemeni nation but excluded Saudi Arabia from the terror list and the countries jeopardizing world peace.”

According to the Lebanese professor the move by Saudi Arabia- as claimed by the country- has been an act of self defense; hence, it has threatened the UN to cut its financial aids should not the international body remove its name from the list and eventually will not accept any solution to end Yemen war.

He said the friendly ties between Saudi Arabia and some European governments moved these countries to press the UN to remove the Arab kingdom from the blacklist.

Head of Al Ma’aref University said the first outcome of the decision was discredit for the UN and added, “Once they include the name of a country in this list and the next day they exclude it due to foreign pressures. This is a reason for dual criteria for the organization.”

He added,” US had already criticized Saudi Arabia for the massacre of Yemeni women and children implicitly calling the Arab kingdom responsible for the brutal inhumane behavior when Saudi Arabia could not withdraw from the war because it had started the war.”

Mohsen Saleh said,” We can say that the UN is an organization dominated by world powers and rich countries like US and Saudi Arabia” adding,” Now it is clear how these countries are uniting with the UN in a coalition against Yemen and if Saudi Arabia remains in the blacklist it should stand responsible for the most heinous behavior towards Yemeni nationals and also violation of human rights in Eastern Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iraq and other countries.”
