'Europe ties promotes Iran’s economy': Rafsanjani

Chairman of Iran's Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani highlighted the beneficial effects that cooperation with Europe can have on the country’s industrial and economic progress.

Iran knows that cooperation with the European Union members is beneficial for a boost to the economy and industry, the top official said at a meeting with Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, held in Tehran on Wednesday.

Iran sees no limits for interaction with Croatia in any field, Rafsanjani added, calling on the European country to plan for stronger bilateral cooperation according to its capacities.

Grabar-Kitarovic, for her part, said a delegation of 65 representatives from the Croatian state-run and private companies accompanying her in the trip is a testimony to Zagreb’s push for development.

The Croatian president arrived in Tehran on Tuesday for a three-day official visit. She held a meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani earlier on Wednesday, when the two countries signed two agreements.

The visit comes against a backdrop of international enthusiasm for enhanced ties with Iran after Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14, 2015 reached an agreement on Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.

The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) came into force in January and terminated nuclear-related sanctions against Iran.
