In a meeting with France’s new ambassador to Tehran, President Rouhani hailed a new chapter in relations between Tehran and Paris, noting that coming into force of the deals will further boost the bilateral ties.

The Iranian president in January paid an official visit to Paris, during which a number of multi-billion-dollar deals were signed between the two countries.

Elsewhere in the meeting, Rouhani highlighted the major role that Iran and France can play in consolidating peace and stability in the Middle East.

For his part, French Ambassador François Sénémaud voiced his country’s resolve to deepen ties with Iran in all fields.

The French government and private sector are eager to work with Iran in development projects, he added.

In a separate meeting on Tuesday morning, President Rouhani met Slovekia’s new ambassador to receive his credentials.

In the meeting, Iran’s chief executive called for formation of Iran-Slovakia joint chamber of commerce, which he said will promote economic and trade interaction between Tehran and Bratislava.

He also pointed to the developing ties between Iran and the European Union, and underlined that Slovakia’s upcoming presidency of the Council of the European Union can accelerate the process of cooperation between Tehran and Brussels.

The Slovak ambassador also expressed his country’s determination to bolster ties with Iran in all fields.

Once Slovakia assumes the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union (July–December 2016), the country will push hard for closer cooperation between Iran and the EU, the new envoy went on to say.
