Qatar’s Nat’l Quran Contest to Start on November 21

The 22nd edition of the Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed bin Thani Quran contest will begin at the Institute of Da‘wah and Islamic Sciences in Doha, Qatar, on November 21.

 The contest will see a total of 1,576 participants, including 708 male and 143 female nationals and expatriates registered in the whole Quran segment, and 195 male and 530 female Qataris who have applied to compete in the partial segment.
 
The contest will continue until December 6 and the total value of prizes for the whole and partial Quran segments is around QR1,100,000.

According to the contest’s schedule announced by the organizing committee, the 22nd edition will begin with a first-stage test for the whole Quran for resident females on November 21, to be followed by male participants on November 22, GTimes reported.

Testing for nationals on five, 10, 15, 20 and 25 parts of the Quran will be held from November 29 to December 1 for males during the evening, and for females from November 28 to December 1 in the evening, except on Saturday, when testing will be both in the morning and evening.

On the morning of December 2, the second stage will be held to test females (both nationals and residents) on the whole Quran. For male participants, it will be held on December 2 morning and December 3 morning and evening.

The final stage of testing for female nationals and residents on the whole Quran will begin on December 5 evening, and for males on December 6, both in the morning and evening.

The first-place winners for memorizing the whole Quran with rhythm and accuracy, for nationals as well as for the general and specific segments of memorizer’s, will receive QR100,000, while the second place winners in the same categories are entitled to QR85,000.

A sum of QR70,000 will go to the third-place winners, QR60,000 to fourth place and QR50,000 to fifth place.

In addition, the committee will award “incentive” prizes to contestants who pass the second stage of the competition in memorizing the whole Quran. Bonuses will also be given to contestants with beautiful voices.
