Jerusalem Mufti voices concern over
Shaykh Ikrimah Sabri, the preacher of Jerusalem al-Quds’ famous al-Aqsa Mosque, has called for a special fund to purchase homes, property and real estate in Jerusalem in order to confront the Israeli policy of “Judaizing” the city.

The former Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and Palestine made the remarks following Israel’s new decision to allocate $40 million to complete the Israel government’s proposed project to Judaize neighbourhoods in East Jerusalem, especially in the Old City.

Shaykh Sabri added that millions of dollars have been placed under the control of Israeli leaders and they have used this money to Judaize the holy city of Jerusalem and build settlements across the West Bank and Jerusalem.

The international community considers Israeli settlements in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, illegal under international law.

The Palestinian cleric said that the Israeli governments’ actions are painful because the Palestinians living in the Jerusalem face numerous problems and crises, which include severe problems with housing, education and healthcare and Arab countries have done nothing to help their Palestinian brethren.

The Zionist regime has tried to change the demographic makeup of Jerusalem over the past decades by constructing illegal settlements, destroying historical sites and expelling the local Palestinian population.
