Iranian, Iraqi endowment center heads meet

The heads of Iran and Iraq’s endowment organizations have met in Baghdad where they discussed increasing cooperation between the two countries.

Hujjat al-Islam Sayyid Alaeddin al-Musawi, the head of Iraq’s Shi’ite Endowment, and Hujjat al-Islam Ali Mohammadi, the head of Iran’s Endowment and Charity Affairs Organization have held a meeting in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad.
 
The two sides announced that they have reviewed their mutual capacities and experiences in regard to endowment affairs, Quranic sciences and the administration of holy shrines and it was decided that the two sides should exchange their experiences and knowledge in regard to these issues.
 
According to Rasa, Hujjat al-Islam Mohammadi announced Iran’s readiness to transfer its experience in endowment and Quranic activities to Iraq and stressed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s support for the Iraqi nation in its fight against terrorism, especially in regards to its fight against the ISIL Takfiri group.
 
He added that Iran’s position is based on religious obligations and is contrary to the American position, which plots against Iraq’s territorial integrity and national unity, despite it having signed a security agreement with the United States.
 
After three hours of talks on Monday, the Iranian and Iraqi delegations agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding in order to increase the common religious activities between the two countries within the framework of the MoU and formed a working group to review these cases.
 
They stated that this memorandum of understanding covers more than 1,420 cases.
 
Sources close to the two delegations have reported that the memorandum of understanding on endowment cooperation will possibly be prepared and signed this Thursday.
 
In a press conference following the meeting, in response to a question asked about the security procedures for the pilgrims of the holy shrines in Iraq, Hujjat al-Islam al-Mousawi stated that pilgrims visiting the holy shrines are completely secure due to the shrines’ protection by the courageous members of the Popular Mobilization Forces and the Iraqi army.
 
The head of Iran’s Endowment and Charity Affairs Organization also emphasized cooperation over political, cultural and economic affairs between the two countries, and announced that an agreement in regard to cultural cooperation and exchanges  between Iraq’s Shi’ite Endowment and Iran’s Endowment and Charity Affairs Organization.
 
Hujjat al-Islam Mohammadi arrived in Baghdad last Sunday and has met with top Iraqi political and religious figures, including Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Sistani.
