Prominent Egyptian Quran reciter Mutawali Abdula’al died at the age of 68.

His funeral was held on Friday in his home village of al-Fadadna in Egypt’s al-Sharqiya province, al-Wafd news website reported.
A number of the country’s top reciters, Quran activists and religious and cultural figures attended the late Qari’s funeral.
Abdula’al was born on April 26, 1947, into a religious family.
He managed to learn the entire Quran by heart when he was 12 years of age.
He then started learning Quran recitation by imitating the style of great matsers like Abdul Basit and Mustafa Esmail.
After a while, he managed to create his own style of Quran recitation.
Abdula’al travelled to many countries during his lifetime to recite the Quran and serve as board of judges in many international Quran competitions.
Last year, he had visited the Islamic Republic of Iran and recited the Quran in different cities including the holy city of Mashhad.
