Kahani’s production experienced a successful screening in the cities of Brisbane and Melbourne over the past two weeks.

“We are happy to see that a social drama focusing on the problems of women has been so well received,” said the head of Cineport film distribution institute Armin Miladi.

He added that Kahani’s success shows the exalted position of the Iranian cinema among international film-enthusiasts and the Iranian audience living abroad.

‘Absolute Rest’ recounts the story of a woman who leaves her hometown with her child after getting a divorce, but her ex-husband does everything he can to force her to go back.

The film is also scheduled to be screened in Sidney as well as the US cities of Los Angeles, New York and Washington D.C.

Abdolreza Kahani began his film career at the age of 15 and made his first short film, ‘The Smile’ in 1988. ‘Empty Hands,’ ‘Twenty,’ ‘Dance with the Moon,’ ‘Adam’ and ‘Over There’ are Kahani's other productions.

Kahani has won numerous national and international festivals including the Golden Alexander award of the 2008 Thessaloniki International Film Festival as well as the Special Jury Prize and the Prize of Ecumenical Jury award of the 2009 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
