Iran, P5+1 set to resume nuclear talks

Representatives from Iran and the P5+1 countries are set to start a new round of talks on drafting the text of a final agreement over Tehran’s nuclear program in the Austrian capital of Vienna.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Ministers Abbas Araqchi and Majid Takht-e-Ravanchi will sit down with European Union deputy foreign policy chief Helga Schmid, who represents the P5+1 countries, in Vienna on Wednesday.

The latest round of talks will be the fifth on drafting a final agreement based on a mutual understanding reached between Iran and its negotiating partners in the Swiss city of Lausanne in April.

The fresh round of talks will continue until Friday and may be attended by deputy foreign ministers from the P5+1 group as well.

Experts from the two sides are also expected to attend the talks.

The director general for political and international security affairs at Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Hamid Baeidinejad, and Stephen Clement, on the part of the P5+1, will be leading the expert-level talks.
Iran and the P5+1 group - the United States, Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany - wrapped up their latest round of talks in Vienna on May 22.

The two sides are seeking to finalize a comprehensive deal on Tehran’s nuclear program based on a mutual understanding reached in the Swiss city of Lausanne by the end of June.
