6th Int’l holy Quran award underway in Kuwait

The 6th edition of international Quran memorization, recitation and Tajweed competition in Kuwait is underway in the capital city.

 The competition’s opening ceremony was held on March 30.

According to KUNA news agency, the Crowne Plaza Hotel of Kuwait City hosted the ceremony organized by Kuwait’s Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.

The program was attended by Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Kuwaiti Prime Minister.
Ya’qub Abdul Mohsin Al-Sani’, Kuwaiti minister of Justice, Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Adel Al-Falah, deputy of the minister and head of the competition’s Supreme Committee presented speeches at the ceremony.

A documentary about the previous editions of the international Quranic event and the most important achievements of the competition was screened at the program.

The 6th edition of the competition is underway among 100 participants from more than 50 countries.
Memorization of the entire Quran, recitation of the Quran in different styles, Tajweed principles and “the best technological plan for serving the Quran” are the categories of the competition.

Winners of the competition will be announced and awarded on April 8.
Introduction of Quran recitation styles and selection of top Quran reciters of the Muslim world are the main objectives of the competition.
