Iran's President Hassan Rouhani, in a message on Saturday, extended his felicitations to Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani on the country's national day.

'I congratulate the Qatari national day to you, the Qatari government and nation on the occasion of Qatar's national day. I hope in view of unity and consensus and utilizing deep religious, historical and cultural commonalities of the two nations, we will witness the growing trend of expansion of brotherly ties between the two countries,' President Rouhani's message read.

He wished for health and success of the Qatari government and nation.

President Rouhani also expressed the hope that Tehran-Doha relations would further grow in near future.

Both Iran and Qatar have recently augmented efforts to further expand ties and cooperation in all the different political, economic, defense, security and cultural fields.

The two Persian Gulf littoral states recently signed several protocols to increase mutual cooperation.
