Shaykh Abdul-Qadir Qahah, a professor at Tunisia’s Zaytounah University spoke of the threat of Takfirism and extremism and the important role of the Islamic Resistance.

Shaykh Qahah told Rasa News that the Tunisian Revolution has been the only Arab revolution able to achieve success and that the recent presidential election represents a serious attempt to build democracy in Tunisia. “The Tunisian revolution was inspired by the Islamic Revolution led by Imam Khomeini and this has led to its success,” he explained.

He added that more than anything else in the current era, the Islamic world needs unity and solidarity, especially against Takfirism and extremism. Islamic countries should promote unity as a step towards economic and scientific developments and to distance themselves from backwardness.

The Sunni scholar stated that Western domination of some Islamic countries is unfortunate and explained that the Takfiri are distorting the image of Islam. This is done by inciting the intelligence services of the West.

Shaykh Qahah added that some dictatorships in the region were working to prevent the Arabic revolutions [the Arab Spring] from bearing fruit. These dictatorships were afraid that the people of the region should stand up against them.

In another part of his speech, he referred to the role of Islamic Resistance [Hezbollah] in Lebanon and Palestine who are fighting against Takfiri groups and Israel. He explained that supporting the Islamic resistance is necessary. “While many Islamic countries cannot fight against Israel, the Islamic Resistance has been able to and has shown their willpower to bring the Zionist regime to its knees,” he stated.

Shaykh Qahah said the forces of the Islamic Resistance has been able to successfully defuse the plots and conspiracies of the Zionist regime, which has nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction.

In conclusion, Shaykh Qahah called on Muslims to support and defend Islamic holy sites, especially the al-Aqsa Mosque, and said: “Muslims have various tools available to repel the Zionist regime and defend their holy sites in occupied Palestine.”
