Opposition Vows to Stand against Bahrain's "Corrupt Regime"
Deputy Secretary-General of Bahrain's Islamic Action Society (Al-Amal) Sheikh Abdullah Saleh pledged to continue campaign against "the Al-Khalifa's dictatorial rule" until a fair election system is held in the country.

Addressing a press conference at the venue of Fars News Agency in Tehran on Sunday, the prominent Bahraini opposition figure underlined that the main request of the revolutionaries in Bahrain is public right of self-determination and partnership in the country's political system and said, "The Bahraini revolutionaries are after holding fair (parliamentary) elections with the highest level of public turnout."
He further added that the revolutionaries want an independent government as the only decision maker in Bahrain.
"The revolutionaries are demanding a transparent parliamentary election law in which public participation has been properly stipulated," Abdullah Saleh said, and underlined that all the three branches of the government should decide independently free from the pressures and meddling of the regime.
He went on to say that since 1978 his country has been under occupation and its will and wealth have been confiscated by the Al-Khalifa occupiers.
Abdullah Saleh pointed out that lack of freedom and democracy are other problems in his country.
"The Bahraini regime is planning to change the structure and combination of the country's population and tribal formation through granting permanent residential permits and citizenship to foreigners in a bid to decrease the percentage of the country's revolutionary and opposition groups," the opposition figure said.
The press conference was also participated by Rashed al-Rashed Secretary-General of Islamic Action Society, prominent member of Al-Wafa'a Islamic Party Sheikh Seyed Morteza Al-Sendi and some other Bahraini and Iranian intellectuals.
Last week, Bahrainis staged demonstrations across the country calling for boycotting the upcoming general elections.
Protesters marched in the streets in the Northwestern village of Diraz. Similar demonstrations were also held in the Northeastern island of Sitra, which lies South of the capital, Manama, and the nearby village of Nuwaidrat.
Chanting anti-government slogans, the protesters also demanded the fall of the Al-Khalifa regime.
The polls will be the first since the uprising of 2011. However, the opposition says the election will not be democratic and will only give credit to the Al-Khalifa family.
Since mid-February 2011, thousands of protesters have held numerous demonstrations in the streets of Bahrain, calling for the Al-Khalifa royal family to relinquish power.
According to local sources, scores of people have been killed and hundreds arrested in the regime crackdown.
In June, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights censured the Manama regime for human rights violations in the country. /SR
