Muslim people in Azerbaijan mark Eid al Adha (feast of sacrifice) in mosques across the country.

Led by prominent religious leaders, thousands of Azerbaijani Muslims held Eid al-Adha prayer in the historical Mosque of Taza Pir, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

Orators in these gatherings related extended congratulations on the occasion and related on the importance of celebrating the event and also Hajj pilgrimage.

Prayers and religious leaders in these ceremonies prayed for prevalence of peace and stability across the world, particularly Islamic countries, defeat of all terrorist groups and freedom of all oppressed people of Palestine from the Zionist regime of Israel.

Muslim communities in Georgia and Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic also marked the occasion on Sunday.

Eid al-Adha or the feast of sacrifice is the day when Muslims across the world make sacrifices of lambs, cows and camels following the model of Prophet Abraham (PBUH) who intended to sacrifice his son Ismail as a sign of full submission to God Almighty.

Hajj pilgrims, particularly, make sacrifices as a completion process to their pilgrimage rituals.
