Egyptians mark Eid al-Adha

Egyptians mark Eid al-Adha
With the first light of dawn, Eid prayers sounded in the streets of Egypt, signaling the start of the Eid al-Adha holidays. Egyptians endear these celebrations, upholding the traditions and festivities year after year despite any circumstances the country is going through.
Traditionally, the first morning following prayers is saved for the sacrifice of the sheep, the meat of which is then given out to the poor. For many of Egypt's improvised, this is the only time in the year they get to eat meat. The family sacrificing the sheep also keeps part of the meat to use in traditional foods associated with Eid. But perhaps children are the luckiest, a new outfit is bought for each which they can wear and show around to visiting families and friends. Older Family members give out an Edya or pocket money for kids to enjoy the celebrations and spend it in whatever way they see fit. And while many take advantage of the long weekend to visit the beach, others in the city take out to public gardens, zoos, Nile restaurants and other places where they can celebrate the Barium. Egyptians are festive people by nature, and come Eid, they try to hold all the traditions and festivities that make this holiday a special one.
