Iran urges pressure on Israel over Gaza

“It is necessary that the international community put pressure on the Zionist regime to completely remove the Gaze siege and end the aggression,” Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said on Sunday.

The Iranian official pointed to the dire situation of Gazans injured in Israeli assault as well as the spread of diseases in Gaza, calling for sending humanitarian aid to the impoverished Palestinian territory.

Afkham stressed the necessity to help rebuild the battered territory, saying the Tel Aviv regime must remain committed to Gaza reconstruction and avoid stalling this humanitarian process.

The Iranian official further expressed hope that the UN Human Rights Council hold an inquiry into Israel's brutalities in Gaza, provide a fair report on all aspects of the offensive and prepare the ground to bring the perpetrators of the crimes to justice.

According to Palestinian medical authorities on Sunday, at least 2,016 Palestinian people have lost their lives and around 10,200 others have suffered injuries in the month-long Israeli attacks on the besieged Gaza Strip.

Nearly 540 children are reportedly among the dead.

Nearly 400,000 Palestinian children are in immediate need of psychological help due to the “catastrophic and tragic impact” of the Israeli war, according to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
