'Iran non-oil exports $8bn in 3 months'

Iran has exported USD 8.1 billion worth of non-oil commodities, excluding gas condensate, in three months, an official with the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) says.

Director of Trade Planning Office of the TPOI Hossein Badri said on Sunday that in the first quarter of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21) Iran's non-oil exports, with the exception of gas condensate, weighed 19.7 million tons and were valued at USD 8.1 billion.

Badri said the figures show a one-percent rise in term of weight and five-percent growth in value compared with the corresponding period of last year.

Iran had its highest positive trade balance with Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Pakistan and Egypt in descending order in this year's first three-month span, Badri added.

He also noted that China, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan and Turkey were Iran’s major export destinations valued at USD 2.137 billion, USD 1.442 billion, 944 million, 552 million, and 517 million respectively during the mentioned period.

Last month, Deputy Managing Director of Iran’s National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Mohammad Hassan Peyvandi also reported a six-percent increase in the Islamic Republic’s petrochemical exports over the first three months of the current calendar year.
