C'ulture of Jihad should not be undermined': Top cleric
Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi said that it is regretful that some writers are trying to weaken the culture of martyrdom in society but we must not allow them to play with this obligation.

Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi, while meeting with the representatives of martyrs foundation of Qom, said that martyrs have very high status in the divine religion of Islam.
He, while explaining that food in this verse does not refer to any eatable rather it points towards spiritual food, said that martyrs are placed closer to Allah (swt) and they give away good news to those who are left behind that they should not feel worried about them.
Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi, while declaring the activities of the workers of martyr’s foundation as very valuable, said that there are two benefits of the program organized for martyrs and warriors, first one is the recognition of the right of those people that have passed away and second one is to protect the spirit of jihad and martyrdom for future.
He said that if martyrs do not sacrifice their lives than our stability, law and order may not sustain. Therefore, it is required to strengthen the culture of jihad and martyrdom among the young generation of society because stability of this spirit prepares the ground that if one day our country or Islam is threatened than these youngsters will stand against the enemies.
This religious scholar of Shiite said that if the culture of martyrdom is overlooked and right of martyrs, warriors and wounded persons is not paid than this culture will weaken in future. It may come a day when Iran and Islamic system is under a threat.
Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi, while pointing towards the verdict issued by religious leadership of Iraq to compete with terrorist group Daesh, said that when this religious order is issued by the religious leadership of Iraq than approximately three million people have come to be registered for Jihad and it is reported that the governor house of Najaf has announced that they are incapable of writing the names of such large number of people. He further said that this verdict of religious leadership of Iraq and then statements issued by religious leadership of Iran in favor of this directive has made some people sorrowful and angry.
The grand Ayatollah, while emphasizing upon the need of paying more attention towards the families of martyrs, said that Imam Khomeini (R.A), Islamic revolution leader and religious scholars emphasize upon the respect of martyrs and their families and our nation is also grateful to their sacrifices, one example of this respect is the participation of a large number of people in the funeral prayer of anonymous martyrs.

At the end, he said that if this culture becomes weak than our future is also at risk. He, while addressing the audience, said that you are storing best virtues for the world hereafter by supporting the families of martyrs and you must know that Allah (swt) has special place for you.
