US-led foreign forces have launched another airstrike in eastern Afghanistan, killing at least five people.

According to local authorities, the attack took place on Sunday in the province of Ghazni.

The latest airstrike came after a US assassination drone attack left at least two people dead in the northeastern province of Kunar on Friday.

US-led forces have recently expanded their aerial attacks across Afghanistan. Most of such attacks are carried out by US forces.

The United States and its allies invaded Afghanistan in 2001 as part of the so-called war on terror. The offensive removed the Taliban from power, but insecurity remains across the country.

The US-led war in Afghanistan, which has caused record-high civilian and military casualties, has become the longest military conflict in the American history.

The US has also carried out numerous drone attacks in Afghanistan and Pakistan in recent years. While Washington claims that the aerial strikes target militants, many of the targets have later turned out to be civilians, according to witnesses.
