Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has called on the six world powers to address the Iranian nation’s concerns regarding their nuclear rights, stressing Tehran’s ‘seriousness’ in talks over its nuclear energy program.

During a Monday meeting with Poland Undersecretary of State Boguslaw Winid in Tehran, Zarif underlined that the Islamic Republic “seeks serious, purposeful and time-framed negotiations” with the six major powers -- the US, Britain, France, China, Russia and Germany -- on Iran’s nuclear issue.

“At this stage, it is important that they (six powers) address the concerns of the Iranian nation,” added the Iranian senior diplomat.

Iran and the six world powers held two days of negotiations over Tehran’s nuclear energy program behind closed doors in Geneva, Switzerland, on October 15-16. The two sides agreed to meet again in Geneva on November 7-8 after the expert-level meeting.

The Iranian foreign minister further pointed to longstanding and historical relations between Iran and Poland, saying that the Islamic Republic welcomes further expansion of Tehran-Warsaw cooperation in different areas.

Winid, for his part, underlined the 500-year-old ties between the two nations, saying that an upcoming visit by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski to Tehran will serve as a good opportunity to bolster Iran-Poland ties.

The Polish official also expressed hope that nuclear negotiations between Tehran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany will yield positive results.

During the meeting, the two sides also exchanged views on the latest developments in Syria and Afghanistan as well as the dangers of extremism.
