Iran’s ‘Taboor’ to go on screen at Brazilian festival

Iranian director Vahid Vakilifar’s second feature-length Taboor has been selected to contend for award at Olhar de Cinema International Film Festival in Brazil.

Taboor which means the naval of the earth in old mythology is about human beings trapped in the surrounding environment.

Distributed by the French company DreamLab Films, the movie was awarded at several international festivals such as the Critic’s Prize at the 15th Deauville Asian Film Festival in France in March, 2013.

Taboor also received the First Special Mention of the 2012 Thessaloniki International Film Festival in Greece and Special Jury Prize of the 2012 International Film Festival of Marrakech in Morocco.

Born in 1981, Vahid Vakilifar graduated in film directing from Iran's Soureh University and worked as an assistant director on several features before starting his filmmaking career.

The 2013 Olhar de Cinema International Film Festival is programmed to take place in the Brazilian city of Curitiba from June 6 to 14.
