An anti-Zionist activist in London:

Netanyahu needed war to stop demonstrations against him

An anti-Zionist activist in London explained that Netanyahu needed a war to stop the demonstrations against him and to kill thousands of Palestinians.
Netanyahu needed war to stop demonstrations against him
Haim Bresheeth, a professorial research associate at SOAS University of London, in an interview with Taghrib News Agency (TNA), said the operation that is going on in Gaza Strip dates back to 10 months ago that Israel was not worried about Hamas, but instead thought that an Intifada will be starting in the West Bank.

“It is very interesting to note that in those last 10 months Hamas a number of times indicated that Israel was going too far but it was not worried about it. They did not think Hamas can do anything or that they could control it”, he said.

Bresheeth mentioned two posts that claimed Israel knew about what Hamas was Planning; one of them a Hamas official saying to an interviewer about an operation that Hamas was planning and it sounded exactly like the operation that is now going on. All the details are the same including taking hostages, taking over towns or villages surrounding Gaza, all the details are the same as the ones happened since Saturday.”

He pointed out that the Hamas official said his claims would come true in few days’ time, “We are going to do that. This was 3 or 4 days before the operation started and Netanyahu had the chance to do something for example to contact Hamas or even attack it. He did not do so.”

The anti-Zionist activist said the second post was a report from Egypt claiming that Egyptian intelligence officers have warned Israel for weeks that something very big was going to happen in Gaza but Israel did nothing about it.

“If Netanyahu did know of the operation coming and did not do anything, there could only be one result and that is HE WANTED IT,” Bresheeth noted and continued, “He wanted Hamas to attack because he wanted a war and he has got a war now to kill tens of thousands of Palestinians.”

Professor Bresheeth, from SOAS University of London stated that Netanyahu also needed a war to stop the 10 months of public demonstrations against him and now the demonstrations have stopped and the case in the supreme court is delayed, maybe forever, his own trial is delayed for a long time, which helps him to continue ruling Israel.

“Netanyahu could have stopped this, could have avoided this terrible show of violence that we see in Gaza. But he did not do so, because he was interested in the conflict”, Haim Bresheeth emphasized.

Jewish anti-Zionist organizations’ support for Palestinians

“The Jewish organizations in London continue supporting Palestinians’ right to defend themselves, the right to act against the occupiers even with arms, a right which is enshrined in the US human right charter”, he clarified.

“What people here are worried about is the stupidity of Jo Biden. He is sending American troops and weapons and enormous materiel to the Middle east not only to support Israel but to join it in the destruction of the Palestinian resistance in Gaza”, he said. He is also worried that such arms and forces may then be used against Iran.

He also appreciated the president of Egypt, El-Sisi, who refused the invitation of Biden to attack Gaza together with US and Israel and said: “this is the right decision he took.”

Gaza War should be avoided at all costs

Referring to what people and organizations can do to support Palestine, he added: “we must argue in any way we can that this war should be avoided at all costs to stop it before it deteriorates the whole situation in the Middle East and before thousands of Palestinians in Gaza are dying and Gaza turns into an impossible place to live in, which it already is but it is going to get much worse.”

“The fascist government in Israel is interested in continuation of the Nakba and we must stop this. All of us need to act against Israeli brutality, against the support given by United States, the UK and those powers that are supporting the continued settler-colonial apartheid regime in Palestine”, Bresheeth concluded.
