Molavi Nazir Ahmad Salami, representative of Iranian southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchistan in Assembly of Experts in an interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) related on the high status of Ashura and Ahlul Bayt (AS) for the Sunni community.

He referred to the Sunni Fiq’h references maintaining respect for Ahlul Bayt (AS) though the way to express this respect might differ from that followed by Shia.

He highlighted the Sunni references and Friday prayers alluding to Ahlul Bayt (AS) parallel to their caliphs.

Molavi Salami noted,” There are few Sunni scholar who has not written a book on rejecting the ruling of Yazid ibn-Muawiaya, Ashura uprising and martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) the third Shia Imam.

“Had not Imam Hussein (AS) been martyred, oppressive rulers would continue legitimizing their deviations” said the Sunni cleric and called the martyrdom of the third Shia imam as his way to end the oppression and deviations of his era.

He concluded with a comment on Arba’een pilgrimage and underlined the massive participation of Sunni Muslims in the annual ceremony.

Arba’een is the fortieth day after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), third Shia Imam and grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) who sacrificed his life with 72 of his companions and household members in the Battle of Karbala fighting the tyrant ruler of his time, Yazid ibn Muawiyah.
