The refugee crisis faced by Europe is one of its own making, since the colonial powers of the continent long exploited Africa and the Middle East, leaving the people there potentially susceptible to difficulties that could force them to migrate, says a commentator.
“This (refugee crisis) is largely the Europeans’ fault and the legacy of colonialism and the legacy of deliberate policies on the part of the Europeans and the Americans to exploit the resources of Africa and Middle Eastern countries for themselves,” Edward Corrigan, a journalist and international lawyer, told Press TV on Sunday.
“So, this is imperialism, this is colonialism and legacy of neo-colonialism,” he said.
