'Hajj is global congress through which Islam can be introduced'

"Hajj is a congress through which the divine religion of Islam can be introduced," said one of the Members of Parliament

The Member of Parliament, Hasan Norouzi in an exclusive interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) stressed, "As a cleric of a pilgrim groups, and a person who is fluent in different languages, I believe Hajj is a congress through which the divine religion of Islam can be introduced."

"Hajj ceremonies with the presence of Iranians from different tribes of Turks, Lars, Arabs, Baluchs, Turkmen and so on and so forth show that Muslims in Iran live together with unity and sympathy," pointed out the religious cleric.

"The regular presence of Muslims in the Masjid al-Haram and the Masjid-al-Anbi can show the true face of Islam in Iran to the Muslim nations worldwide and the Arab world," stressed the religious cleric noting, "Iranian presence and unity can rule out what Arab sheikhs propagate against Iran claiming they are polytheists and extremist Muslims."

"Imperialism is attempting to create among the Muslims of the world," Norouzi mentioned highlighting, "these types of conspiracy are invalidated by regular attendance of Muslims in the Hajj ritual."

More than 1.4 million Muslims have arrived so far in Saudi Arabia to perform the Hajj pilgrimage slated to begin next week, with this year’s rituals featuring the return of tens of thousands of Iranians.

So far 1,313,946 pilgrims have arrived by air, 79,501 by land, and 12,477 by sea. The arrivals showed an increase of 33 percent compared with the same period last year.

This year’s rituals will begin next Wednesday and continue until the following Monday. Muslims can also perform the Umrah or Lesser Pilgrimage during the rest of the year, but that is no substitute for the obligatory rituals, known as Tumattu Pilgrimage.

Based on the Islamic rules, every Muslim possessing the relevant physical and financial capability is obligated to perform the rituals once in his or her lifetime over a five-day period from the eighth to the 12th of Dhu al-Hijjah, the 12th and last month on the lunar calendar.
