Mental preparation of Palestinian youths to have firearms

Ahmadreza Rouhollahzad, secretary of the Society in Defense of the Palestinian Nation (SDPN) and expert on Palestinian issues in an interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) detailed his views on the anniversary of third Palestinian intifadha.

Q: A year into the third Palestinian intifadha, how do you assess the achievement of the movement?

A: Intifadha of the Palestinian youths began on early October last year. In fact the move began in protest against the present situation in Palestine and the quagmire the country was harassed with. Intifadha youths are mainly born after the Oslo Accord 1993 and in an ambiance defined by the Palestinian authority in compromise with the Zionist regime. All facilities for the structure were predefined in a way to lead Palestinian youths towards approving Israel as an entity.

These youths are in the arena to protest the present situation because amid the current situation neither the Zionist regime stayed committed to the Oslo Accord nor the Palestinian Authority could make promotions. It is the PA which was the basis for ambitions designed for the Palestinian community and a part of the Palestinian society hoped the government could bring solutions and a change beneficial for the Palestinian community.

Israel has not only violated its commitments but also doubled the pressures on the Palestinian nation and has occupied parts of the regions defined to belong to the Palestinians. On the other hand the Palestinian Authority has in many cases acted as a police and security forces for Israel.

In terms of economy, Palestinian society has no promising perspective and there is no job or future for the people. The desperation motivated the youths to rise against the present quagmire. This is while the Palestinians are besieged and disarmed and the Zionist enemy has for years tried to tell them that the way to confront Israel is not weapon but cooperation and dialogue.

It was expected that weapons and achieving arms would be meaningless for the Palestinian youths but they started with empty hands or at most with knives performing operations individually and it was later known that they made access to some weapons too.

Therefore, the most important achievement in the third intifadha was that the mind of the West Bank community prepared for confrontation and gaining arms as it had been stressed by the Supreme Leader that the West Bank society becomes armed just like Gazans though this demanded mental preparation which did not exist before.

The third intifadha has challenged both Zionists and the Palestinian Authority who has moved in line with compromise bringing a light of hope for the Palestinian nation, particularly in the West Bank, that they can beat the Zionist enemy who have for years been in command of the whole region.

Q: What is your assessment on the allegiance of the Arab and Islamic countries with the third intifadha during the past one year?

A: Unfortunately the Arab states have never moved in line with supporting the Palestinian nation due to a cooperation and allegiance with the Zionist regime and the west. They had previously announced their views in their declaratory politics though it was not so in practice.

Unfortunately since the beginning of the third intifadha, we do not see even rhetorical and declaratory supports. Quite opposite we are witness that the relations of these governments with the Zionist regime which mostly used to be rumors were gradually appearing to be bare truth. Based on that we see that the role of Arab nations in supporting Palestine has turned out to be cooperation with the enemies of the besieged nation and these countries are in pursuit of normalizing ties with the Zionist regime.

Other Islamic countries which are far away from the region do not challenge the issue seriously. On the other hand the issue of Takfiri terrorism in the region has led to new security priorities for most of the regional countries and the major part of capacities which could be contributed for the Palestinian cause is in practice excluded from that.

For instance Syria which has been a great defender of the resistance for years is harassed with war at home battling the enemies backed by the Zionist regime, Saudi Arabia, the US and other countries.
Post-Saddam Iraq, which was expected to serve the resistance front is plagued in a situation similar to Syria.

Q: At the beginning of the second year after Intifadha, what objective should the movement pursue?

A: In the first step intifadha should maintain its freshness meaning that the Palestinian youths should maintain their hopes and be active in resistance arena because they are deprived of international supports. Hearts and minds of many regional nations stand with the Palestine. Opposite to the governments who are in pursuit of a different ambition through their diplomacy and media, the minds of the regional nations stand with the Palestinians.

Public minds can play an active role in support of the Palestine only when the resistance can act mightier and fresher. The mightier resistance acts in Palestine, the more regional nations will support the Palestinians.

Undoubtedly, to blow the Zionist targets and expansion of operations in different cities can increase the achievements of the intifadha and also access to firearms for the Palestinian nation. Confrontation with an enemy who uses firearms against Palestinian kids and youths should be by firearms and as late Imam Khomeini (RA) had stated, ”Palestine will not be liberated unless with arms laid upon beliefs of the Palestinian youths.”
