Mourning month of Muharram is a time for Taziyeh, passion plays in Iran showing the life and martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), third Shia Imam and grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). Imam Hussein (AS) and 72 of his companions and family members were martyred in the Battle of Karbala back in 680 AD fighting the tyrant of the time Yazid ibn Muaviyah.
