Top cleric attended the test screening of documentary to stress Islam as religion of peace, friendship and coexistence.

Ayatollah Seyyed Mostafa Mohaqeq Damad, prominent Iranian Shia cleric, called the present era the era for peace and highlighted Islam as religion of peace, friendship and coexistence reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He criticized the ongoing wars saying,” It is unfair that man is killing his brothers under the name of Almighty God.”
 
The cleric noted,” Our religion is based on peace, friendship and coexistence; hence, the only permitted confrontation is one for sacred defense” alluding to Qur’anic verses which allow man to make armors for protection but not swords for killing.”
 
Senior Iranian cleric touched upon the Iraq war imposed on the Islamic Republic of Iran and said,” We have been through an era of atrocities, destruction and war” vowing to contribute his time to promote peace and coexistence among all people.
 
Ayatollah Mohaqeq Damad made the remarks in the ceremony for test screening of the film ‘The War Owl’ by Alireza Mohammadi.
