The Islamic Resistance Movement – Hamas – tonight issued a statement holding the Israeli Occupation fully responsible for the consequences of its latest attack on the Gaza Strip.

A spokesman for the movement Fawzi Barhoum said, “The Palestinian resistance’s retaliation is internationally guaranteed and is carried out for one purpose; to defend the people of Gaza.”
“It’s also the resistance’s national duty to deter the Israeli Occupation from imposing its own rules of engagement upon innocent civilians,” Barhoum added.
Earlier today, an Israel soldier was killed on the eastern border, reportedly by sniper fire from inside the blockaded enclave.
Regional governments are intensifying their efforts to stop the present pattern of attack and counter-attack from escalating into all-out war.
Hamas has on its part affirmed that “Palestinians have the right to live in freedom and dignity” and international and regional leaders must work to end the Israeli aggression and siege of the Gaza Strip.
