Tehran, Yerevan to cement economic coop.

Iranian economy minister, at a meeting with head of Armenia’s SRC, called for resolve to reinvigorate economic collaboration between the two countries.


 

Masoud Karbasian, Economy Minister of Iran, met and talked with Head of State Revenue Committee (SRC) by the Government of Armenia, Vardan Harutyunyan. At the joint session, the Iranian side pointed to broad scope of activities carried out by the Ministry of Economy saying “the body undertake the largest portion of international economic interactions in Iran and given the high level of political relations between Iran and Armenia, economic relations between the two countries need to be developed.”

He described Armenia as an intimate friend Iran inside the region adding that the friendship between the two countries should be strengthened with more economic relations and that the Tehran-Yerevan economic relations commission should become more active.

“Within the framework of tariff preferences, the two countries will apply reductions against goods entering the two countries,” the Iranian economy minister stated.

Karbasian also highlighted the need for expansion of banking cooperation, cooperation in area of ​​free zones, avoidance of double taxation and investment in joint production by Iran and Armenia.

Also at the meeting, the head of the Armenian State Revenue Committee, Mr. Harutyunyan, expressed satisfaction towards the holding of the session and called for the development of economic relations between the two countries of Iran and Armenia.

Referring to the age-old history of relations between Iran and Armenia, he voiced his country’s preparedness to expand economic relations in the IT and customs sectors.
