On the wake of much controversial move by the US President Donald Trump to relocate American embassy to Jerusalem al-Quds, countries across the globe, intellectuals, activists and people from all walks of life have denounced Washington for the decision which has once again denied Palestinian rights in support of Israel.
In an interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA), on the sideline of international conference on “Jerusalem al-Quds, the Eternal Capital of Palestine”, Scottish activist has rejected Trump’s embassy move as scandalous and pathetic.
Konrad Rekas, chairman of Polish Yes for Scotland, has hailed the conference as an absolutely unique possibility to meet with intellectuals, major independent thinkers who are completely unknown in the west from Iran and across the globe.
“Very grateful” in his own words, for New Horizon conference and the Iranian states and society to host conference on al-Quds on the wake of US embassy movement and also weeks of Gazans’ March of Return, he said,” We recognize Islamic Republic of Iran as one of the free places in the world where people from across the world can meet and discuss fundamental subjects.”
He said,” We meet here in a very specific moment in the wake of the absolutely scandalous and pathetic movement by the American government recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Zionist occupation state in Palestine.”
A member of Scottish independence movement against imperialist stressed,” This is the voice of supporting the Palestinian independent movement, a voice for independent Palestine”
According to Konrad Rekas the presence of intellectuals and thinkers in such conferences is a voice for protest against pro-Zionist movements.
When asked on the view of his community on the issue of Palestine he said,” In Scotland we have a long tradition of supporting Palestine” especially naming stadium of Celtic Glasgow which is always in the Palestinian flags and decorations as a favorite example and pride.
Member of anti-Zionist movement from Aberdeen in north Scotland stressed,” It is not a question of being against Israeli aggression to boycott Israeli markets and products” and demanded,” We have to be more active and push our governments in the west not to follow Trump’s decisions and never agree for recognizing Jerusalem as a capital of Zionists occupational state.”
He praised the conference as the grounds for creating common stronger voice against Zionist intrigues, plots in the world.
Guest to a previous conference on influence of Zionist lobby on Hollywood, Konrad Rekas, said that more geopolitical and political affairs needed to be discussed because of the situation.
Concluding his interview with TNA he said,” Americans and American Zionists should understand united we stand, we stand for Iran and for Palestine.”
