Text : Nazir Ayyad, General Secretary of Islamic Research Academy in Al Azhar, announced newly launched campaign against Islamophobia aims to correct the tarnished image of Islam which provokes extremists to disrespect the holy religion of Islam, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA). Al-Azhar professor slammed the misrepresentation of Islam as the root cause of sacrilegious measures against Muslims, Islamic sanctities which eventually fuels the fire of racism and anti-religious extremism. He added," This campaign has been launched in line with opposition of Al-Azhar with racist views that translate freedom of expression to disrespecting religious sanctities and beliefs of others." According to Al-Azhar professor to introduce Islam as the religion of blessings, friendship, humanity and justice that indiscriminately views men is among other objectives of the campaign. The decision by prominent university in Egypt has come following Qur an burning incident by three members of a far-right group in Sweden and reprinting of cartoon disrespecting Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) by French weekly, Charlie Hebdo.
