Portuguese-flagged ship owned by Israeli businessman seized by marine unit of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, state-run news agency IRNA reports

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy has rejected the claims by western countries over harassing a merchant ship in the country’s southern maritime territories stressing that the dispatch of forces was in response to distress call in the Strait of Hormuz.

Member of Iran’s Parliament said the legislative body has closure of the Strait of Hormuz to European commercial ships on its agenda in response to a recent decision by European Parliament to designate the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) as terrorist organization.
