Jordanians in the capital Amman have held protest in front of Israeli embassy on Friday to condemn Israeli violation of al-Aqsa Mosque and voice support for the Palestinians.
On Tuesday, Majali was stopped by Israeli police at the Lion's Gate entrance to Al-Aqsa Mosque compound under the pretext of a lack of coordination with the Israeli authorities.
In a statement, the Jordanian Foreign Ministry said the Israeli Envoy was handed "a strongly-worded letter of protest to be delivered immediately to his government."
Haitham Abu al-Foul, spokesman for the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, warned yesterday of the danger of the continuous Israeli practices in the occupied Palestinian territories and the targeting of Palestinians, including women and children, according to the Jordanian Petra news agency.
In an interview with Quds Press, the former Jordanian minister stressed that his country has strategic interests in the Palestinian issue, "particularly in the West Bank, which is considered part of the kingdom's national security."
Ambassador Haitham Abu Al-Foul, a spokesman for the ministry, said all Israeli measures aimed at restricting the right of Christians to a free and unrestricted access to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher to perform their religious rites are rejected and condemned.
