According to Taghrib News Agency(TNA), Mohsen Saleh, director of the Al‑Zaytouna Center, spoke to Al Jazeera about the outcomes and implications of the “Al‑Aqsa Flood” operation for the Israeli regime. He stated that the consequences of this operation include:
1-A severe weakening of the occupying regime’s strategic position.
2-Heavy human, military, and economic losses inflicted on Israel.
3-A dramatic decline in Israel’s global standing and its growing isolation.
4-Major setbacks to normalization projects and reconciliation initiatives with the occupiers.
5-Renewed confidence among Palestinians and a wave of inspiration across the Islamic world.
6-Intensified global opposition to the Zionist project.
Saleh added that the resistance is now entering a phase of regrouping, restructuring, and reassessment in preparation for a new stage of struggle under improved conditions. “Disarmament Should Begin With the Occupier, Not the Occupied”
He stressed that any discussion of disarmament must begin with the occupying force, not with the resistance. Under international law, armed resistance is a natural right of any people living under occupation.
Saleh argued that the real question should be: How can the occupation be ended? How can the Israeli regime be prevented from committing further violations? And how can Palestinians be protected from ongoing aggression?
He emphasized that Palestinians will undoubtedly continue their resistance, viewing their arms as both a natural right and a necessary duty for self‑defense and the liberation of their land. A National Partnership Is Essential
The prominent analyst noted that the current leadership of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and the Palestinian Authority has not opened the door to genuine partnership with resistance factions. He said the leadership in Ramallah remains preoccupied with the remnants of the Oslo Accords, despite the fact that Oslo is effectively obsolete.
Saleh warned that the Palestinian people and their cause face a grave—indeed existential—threat, and overcoming it is impossible without real national unity.
He added that a unified national strategy is needed to confront the so‑called “Peace Council” initiative introduced by former U.S. President Donald Trump, which he described as a form of guardianship imposed on Palestinians and rejected by all parties.
A national plan is also required to counter attempts to erase the Palestinian cause, undermine the Palestinian narrative, besiege the population, or annex the West Bank. “The War Has Not Ended—Only One Phase Has”
The director of Al‑Zaytouna Center stressed that the war has not truly ended; only one round of the broader confrontation has concluded. The overarching struggle against occupation continues, and Palestinians will not halt their resistance until the occupation ends—just as the Zionist project will not stop until it eliminates the Palestinian cause.
Saleh explained that the coming period will involve various scenarios related to Gaza, including limited implementation of certain proposals such as humanitarian aid entry or partial administrative arrangements. “Israel Will Never Be Able to Eliminate the Resistance”
He concluded that Palestinians will not accept the disarmament of the resistance, while Israel—continuing its occupation—will refuse to withdraw and will persist in exerting pressure to impose its conditions. However, under no circumstances will Israel be able to eradicate the resistance or eliminate the Palestinian people in their homeland. The Palestinian people, he said, stand on the right side of history, and the Israeli regime will ultimately be the greatest loser.
